Application Process
Applications for employment with the City of Abbeville Police Department can be obtained at City Hall located at 100 Court Square or by downloading an application from the Human Resources Page. The application process includes the following:
- Background investigation
- Drug Screen
- Medical/physical exam
Applicants also must be:
- 21 years of age or older
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Have a current, valid drivers license
- No criminal record
Training
Employees must complete nine weeks of intensive training at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia. Upon graduation, Officers will be assigned to shift and field training where they will continue their law enforcement training. In-service training towards re-certification is required several times during the year.
